SOL.01 Solar-Ready Re-Roofs

Re-Roof Before
The Panels Go Up.

One in three Australian homes now has rooftop solar. If your roof has under ten years of life left, the cheapest move is re-roofing now — before the panels lock you into paying twice.

We do solar-prep installs: rail pre-positioning, extra noggings, and Colorbond profiles your installer can clamp directly. Your solar quote drops, your re-roof outlasts the panels, no warranty issues.

SOL.02 The Maths

Why Solar Owners
Pay Twice.

01

Roofs Wear Out Before Panels

Solar panels last 25-30 years. Concrete tile fades at 15-25 years. Colorbond paint warranty is 20 years. If your roof is older than your dog, putting panels on top is buying a $30,000 problem for the year your tiles start cracking.

02

Removal & Refit Is Real Money

When the roof eventually needs work with panels installed, you pay your solar installer to remove them ($1,500-$3,000), wait for the roofer, then pay to refit ($1,500-$3,000). Often the panels get damaged in the process. Plus the roofer charges more to work around the existing array.

03

Penetrations Void Warranties

Solar installers drilling into Colorbond steel without correct flashing voids the BlueScope warranty (Technical Bulletin TB-36). Most don't follow it. We do — every penetration gets sealed flashing in the same Colorbond colour, photographed for the warranty record.

04

Solar-Prep Installs Save Time Later

When we re-roof for a solar-bound homeowner, we pre-position the rail mounting points and add extra noggings under the sheets where panels will sit. Your installer drops in clean — no fishing for studs, no compromise penetrations.

SOL.03 Mounting Methods

How Panels
Fix To Each Roof.

The roof material decides how panels mount. The mounting decides whether your roof warranty survives. Klip-Lok 700 is the gold standard for solar — clamp-on, no penetrations, ready out of the box.

M.01 Method

Tile Roof Mounting

Stainless tile-hooks fixed to the rafter (never the batten — battens flex). Lifts the tile, hooks underneath, drops back. No tile drilling.

Products

Clenergy SolarRoof tile-hook kits · Sungrip · Schletter

M.02 Method

Colorbond Klip-Lok Mounting

Clamp-on rails grip the standing seam directly — no penetration, no drilling, no warranty issue.

Products

Clenergy SunLock · Schletter Solo · IronRidge

M.03 Method

Colorbond Custom Orb / Trimdek Mounting

Through-fix only — bolt drops through the crest, not the valley. EPDM-bonded washer + Colorbond-colour flashing. Photographed for warranty record.

Products

BlueScope TB-36 compliant install only

SOL.05 Solar Incentives — May 2026

Government Schemes
Still Active.

These are the federal and state schemes still available in May 2026. We don't install solar — but the timing of your re-roof relative to these matters, especially the STC step-down before 2030.

STC Active

Small-scale Technology Certificates

Federal scheme. Phases to zero by 2030. STP rate 11.67% in 2026.

FED Active

Federal Cheaper Home Batteries

Active from 1 July 2025. ~$372/kWh up to 50kWh. Stacks with state schemes.

NSW Active
